Barcelona WiFi

Barcelona WiFi is a Barcelona City Council service that allows you to connect to the Internet through WiFi Access Points, or hotspots, located in various municipal amenities.

Barcelona WiFi can be defined as a service that lets its Users carry out simple browsing on the Internet and to that end it only enables access to content through a browser like Mozilla Firefox, Microsoft Internet Explorer, etc. This service also allows public access to City Council information and online processing.

There are currently more than 200 WiFi points and by the end of 2009, this unprecendented network will have 100 more locations and during 2010, 500 more stations will be added to the network. This initiative has not been seen any big city before. It is so innovative that the Telecommunications Market Commission is considering a change of legislation.

The City Council provides the Barcelona WiFi Service with the aim of encouraging city access to the Internet and helping the public incorporate technology into their daily lives.

To access the Barcelona WiFi Service from any municipal amenity provided with the Service, the only thing Users need to have is an IT device (a laptop, PDA, mobile telephone, etc.) with a wireless connection. Further information on the technical requirements may be consulted in the Service User Manual.

To access the Service, Users must comply with the general terms and conditions of use of the service. Should there be a breach of any of the provisions set down in the terms and conditions, the User concerned may have his or her Barcelona WiFi Service suspended.

To start making the most of the Service, you should make sure you are within range of the antennas. Once you've made a connection using the Service password Barcelona WiFi you can then type in any web address. This will display the portal home page.
