Picasso in Barcelona

Pablo Picasso is seen as one of the greatest artists of all time. His long life, 92 years (1881-1973) witnessed so many art pieces. He is most known for his works as a painter, draugtsman and sculptor. He is most well known for the creation of cubism where he found every perspective of dimensions valuable in an abstract way.
So many things (books, articles, movies, etc.) made for him. Therefore, I do not want to delve into the life of Picasso. Instead, I´d like to mention the movie, Surviving Picasso, directed by James Ivory (1996), tells about the life of Picasso (art and women). Anthony Hopkins is Pablo Picasso in the movie.
Picasso in Barcelona is where the Museu Picasso is. Museu Picasso combines the life-time works of this brilliant artist with the collection of his favorites from selected artists. I would say you need at least 3 hours for the museum if you are an art lover.

Many books have been written about Pablo Picasso, but the closest to the real Picasso, the most personal one might be Picasso: My Grandfather. It is the story of Picasso´s granddaughter experiencing his cruelty and genious during his lifetime.
With his extraordinarily long and efficient life, Pablo Picasso left 4000 artworks behind him. He used to close the doors of his studio for days and don´t come out until he feels ready with his art. He wasn´t letting his models see his paintings before he finishes them. By the people he was acquianted with, he was known as a cruel genious.
Exceptionally, unlike most of the other artists, he was understood well during his life time and was treated like a novel by many. His artworks were worth so much. Once he was walking in south France in a beach and a lady recognized him and asked him if he could draw a sketch of her and as he finished his sketch in a few minutes, he asked for two thousand dollars. The woman, surprised, asked ´´Why for a few minutes of drawing?´´ and he said ´´it takes a life time to be Picasso.´´
